Tranquillity Walk

The Living Streets Tranquillity Walk - Sunday 11th July 2.30 p.m.

An 8 mile walking challenge from Town to L'Eree

The Living Streets Tranquillity Walk will be a major fund raiser for our Safe Route to the Baubigny Schools Project.  The project aims to develop a safe walking/cycling route for students coming from St. Peter Port to be able to access their new schools at Baubigny.  The route goes through the beautiful green lung between St. Peter Port and St. Sampson and is virtually traffic free.  The States is not financially supporting the development of the route.  However, with the support of Guernsey businesses and individual islanders we are managing to raise sufficient funds to open up the route in September.  But we still need more funds and we hope the Tranquillity Walk will become an annual event and help us raise the necessary funds to keep the pathway up and running for future generations.

Information for walkers

The 8 mile walk takes about 3 hours (+ half an hour for a refreshment stop).  It goes right across the centre of the island through Guernsey's wonderful countryside using the Ruettes Tranquilles and lanes.  After leaving Town via a virtually traffic free route we go through St. Andrew, St. Saviour and St. Pierre du Bois down to the coast at L'Eree.  The walk will be led by Deputy Tom Le Pelley who devised the route.

Starts: - 2.30 p.m. Market Square, St. Peter Port

Alternative starting point: - 3.00 p.m. Princess Elizabeth Hospital (meet near the Chest and Heart Centre and park nearby)  Parking by kind permission of the HSSD Department

Please feel free to join us at any point along the route (see the two maps)
